Diagnosed April 2003 right after we returned from a Hawaii vacation and the week we moved to Palm Desert!

My former vet diagnosed Maggie, told me the bare minimum. Her insulin was increasing daily as a result of the daily urine test. My new vet doesn't rely heavily on the urine test, believed 8U 2x a day was much too much for Maggie. We got a new bottle -- she suspects the insulin bottle first whenever we have problems, she did an all day curve and reduced Maggie's insulin to 6U 2x a day and prescribed the above prescription food (formerluy known as Gluclose Control). We've had a lot of success until this week. My new vet also told me to put Maggie on my schedule, so as not to be so inconvenienced (my husband and I have rushed home from dinner with friends to give Maggie her second injection). So, slowly but surely, I got Maggie's injections going at about 9:00 am. and 9:00 p.m. The beginning of this week, she started waking me up shaking just a little (she acted like she had the hiccups). After a couple nights of that, we put her in her kennel for sleeping. She did well the night before last but last night she had a violent seizure (her first)! As soon as it was over at 3:30 a.m., I gave her karo followed by a bath since she urinated all over herself and a little later we all went back to bed. A couple hours later, she was "hiccupping" again and acted drunk. I got up with her, gave her a little more karo and then a small meal. Immediately, she was throwing her ball at me to play! I believe there were 2 cuprits. She has been exercising a little more than usual, but most importantly, after reading some of the input on feeding meals before or after injections, it started to click. I've been giving her a small meal about 7:00 a.m., with her injection at 9:00 a.m., her big meal about 1:00 p.m., maybe a carrot or 2 around 3-4 p.m., and her last injection at 9:00 p.m. I believe her last injection is so far removed from her last (big) meal at 1:00 p.m., that she became severly hypo. This morning after a small meal to get her back to normal, I gave her another small meal 15-30 minutes before her first injection at 9:00 a.m. Now, my question is, should I not feed her again until just before her last injection at 9:00 p.m., which, of course, is not long before we all turn in for the night? I'm sure I'm doing something wrong and feel badly that I caused her hypo/seizure. I appreciate your help. Of course, I'll call my vet and get her in for a curve ASAP.
