She has been on Derm caps most of her life as show dogs can never be too shiny! I found the Sea Pet fish oil (liquid) a few years ago and all my dogs get that daily.
She has developed some fat pads in her flank, which I know could indicate Cushings. Her weight is good otherwise. She has signifcantly lost muscle mass and is quite squishy these days, yet her ribs are easily felt. She has never been a hard muscled girl even with 20 minutes a day on the treadmill when she was being campaigned. I have considered more exercise (she loves the treadmill), but have been reluctant to change much about her daily routine since she is perfectly regulated.
I should get a Thyroid panel run as it has been several years since I ran one (it was normal then.) I have also noticed it takes her longer to "propel" herself up the stairs or onto the bed or couch, when it used to be effortless. She doesn't seem weak. She had a significant injury to her hock as a youngster, so I do worry about arthritis, and she is ten years old, so I know she will slow down a bit. (She is also on a joint support supplement)
I would think with her easy regulation and maintaining her weight like she always has, that Cushings would be unlikely, wouldn't you? (I hope it is!)
Monica
