I'm going away next Saturday (it is our postponed trip that we were supposed to be going on when Zeno got sick in June).
We only just realised it was SO close. It is only three nights but in a little way I dread it as I worry for Zeno.
The past week he has had a couple of low lows! Like nearly hypo level for him. But we manage it by giving a wee bit of honey and checking again then reducing insulin if necessary accordingly. He was on 6 in the moring and 6.5 at night but this morning we dropped it to 5 units as he was so low (no honey) he did get up to 144 in the end before insulin. Tonight he was around 145 again so we gave 5.5 and see what tomorrow brings.
What on earth will happen if he is really low when we are away, no one will know and then grandad will give him the injection and who knows what might happen.
What do you guys do in this situation?
He has chicken and bean for lunch each day as an extra snack, I could add say three pieces of his wm pasta with it, but what if he strikes a low first thing and no one knows. he has 0.75 ounces of pasta at breaky and dinner - do you think I should maybe increase this for the three days? Or maybe reduce insulin a little or give supper?? I also of course of wary that he will go too high as well with snacks and get poorly.
It seemed so far off at the time now it is round the corner and Zeno is still not right with BGs - good with himself though (touch wood)
What do you guys do? (if you talk about food can you explain what it means as I get mixed up when you say cookies and stuff sorry).
THANK YOU
Sharon

You just go on your holiday and don't worry - Zeno will be fine. I would
tend to give a bit less of insulin while you are gone.
